Technology and Training for Food Rescue

Richland Source recently featured the work of our Community Voices project partner and Green Umbrella member Last Mile Food Rescue, focusing on the way that Last Mile uses technology and training to rescue and redistribute food in our region. The author of the piece explains the context of food rescue across Ohio, including the federal legislation that sets the scene for this work and the environmental impact of food waste, which food rescue combats. With the help of volunteers like those spotlighted in the article, "in the first four months of 2021, Last Mile rescued 330,000 pounds of food."
