Food Rescue Even on Weekends

"La Soupe picks up 3,000 pounds of food after freezers go out at Trader Joe's in NKY"

Kaitlin Lewis | Cincinnati Enquirer | 07/20/2021

Our Community Voices project partner and Green Umbrella member La Soupe sprang to action to rescue 3,000 pounds of food in an unplanned power outage at a Trader Joe's store in our region this past weekend. This quick response illustrates the incredible value of partnerships, communication, and collaboration between professionals and volunteers committed to equitable food access and distribution and diminished food waste. It also highlights the importance of adequate infrastructure in preserving the longevity of food as it moves through the food system.
